![]() Of course you could say "Why would civilization be bothered inventing a gun when they can have powerful magic staffs, etc" and yes, it can happen. In Hytale it seems that characters have all the knowledge required to create a gun. Going with the latter notion if a civilization has knowledge of gunpowder and metallurgy, then guns are ought to get invented. While the other more popular notion says that if all the requirements are met the invention is ought to happen (this may be a reason for simulteanous inventions). One notion says that inventions are totally random and civilization could live thousands of years without it and only got it because of a random chance. There are a few philosophical notions about inventions. As humans, we only know of our technological progress and so we have no way of comparing it to anyone else. I'm gonna go against the general flow and say that it would be very inconsistent if Hytale didn't have any sort of guns.Īctually technological development is a very interesting thing to tackle in world-building. HYTALE GUNS SKINI don't want to see Hytale devolve into just another CoD with a blocky skin and fantasy theme like the rest of those commenting against it here, but people have to consider what Hytale's actual level of tech and lore imply is possible within the setting the devs have created. Guns do fit, but most certainly not moderns ones from the 18th century onwards if they want to keep that rustic sense of wonder they've been building up and keeping combat balanced. To say Hytale should be strictly medieval fantasy would be a gross inaccuracy, because otherwise players would more likely be using diving bells with air hoses and some form of magic to fly. We also have scuba gear the player can make, which is a very late industrial era design as well. Hytale, however, has shown some steampunk style tech in its screencaps and concept art of a personalized helicopter bag. Helicopters are something that was invented in 1939, roughly 6 more centuries after the first cannons were built. The chinese however, had already developed a very rudimentary flamethrower/shotgun in the form of their fire lances in the 10th century. Blackpowder was discovered in the 10th century, the first gunpowder cannons were made right on the verge of the final years of the medieval period in the 13th century. That's a 1000 year period where a lot of discoveries and innovations were made. Our Irl Medeval period is considered to have been between the fall of Rome to the beginning of the renaissance. ![]() For everyone saying this game is medieval fantasy and therefore guns won't "fit", here's some food for thought. ![]()
